dinner out with alexander

Tonight I take Alexander to my new, favorite sushi place, Mira Sushi on West 22nd Street.

We take the subway, and sit next to a a hip-looking Asian couple (both men) with a blond baby.  One of them is working on a computer, as if he is at home sitting in the privacy of his den, and not on an overcrowded #6 train headed downtown.  The computer he is working on is strange.  It looks like it's from the early 80's; the screen is black, the text is white, and the man is typing in small letters that look like DOS.  Rather than be intrigued, Alexander and I are both suspicious.  Prior to 9-11 we wouldn't have noticed.

But we make it to our stop just fine.

A young dating couple next to us are talking about the movie Babadook, the one Alexander recently saw and loved.  Soon we are in conversation with them. I ask the guy if he'd mind taking our picture. He doesn't, though I'm sure my son does.

The food is amazing, beginning with the pizza sushi appetizer, through the rolls, and the luscious desert.

And the ride home?  Uneventful, exactly like we want it to be.
