better to be safe

"Don't give your social security number out." I've given this advice to Alexander numerous times over the years. Of all the fears I have, one isn't that my son will give personal identity information out to strangers. Or that he'll wire money to someone writing from Nigeria. 

Alexander tells me that his Citibank debit card isn't working. It's become demagnetized and he needs to get a new one. I tell Alexander to call the number on the back of the card. He does, then texts me.

It's good to know that sometimes Alexander actually does pay attention to things I say. So what if he errs on the side of caution. At least he's listening.
