It’s a dark, overcast day.
Rain threatens but doesn’t come.
I plan to go over to the Met and see the Winogrand photography exhibit; today is its last day. I am walking out the door when something stops me. Desire. I have none.
I'd rather stay home and:
- Clean my bathroom.
- Update my 2015 Filofax.
- Go to Agata; they’re having a huge sale (never mind that it ends October 4th).
- Finish reading Louise Doughty's mesmerizing novel, Apple Tree Yard.
- Wrap the gifts I got my mother and sister for their upcoming birthdays (even though I’m not seeing them until next week).
- Make a dinner reservation for when M comes on Friday (as if that will consume hours of time).
- Program my DVR for the new fall season.
- Look for an inexpensive cover for my three-year old Kindle. (I find a new leather Cole Haan one for only $10 on ebay, including shipping).
- Switch my warm-weather clothes with my fall-winter ones; though the forecast would suggest I needn't bother.
It's amazing what you can get done when you don't want to do something else.
