and the good news is... he's alive!

Today I get this:

What??????

And then I see this in FB Messenger.

OMG! I thought he was dead.

Remember that post the other day about John DeMeo?

The gorgeous guy who enriched my 16-year old life one Cape Cod summer?

The one who died?

Well, I guess he didn't.

I call Linda. The source of my information on John's passing.

"Oh, don't kill me," she begins.

Then she explains.

Turns out that she quickly read her HS Class Facebook page that said a John De....had died. She immediately thought to contact me without remembering that there was another John De... in her class. A poor John Deluca who did actually die. Him I didn't know.

I have no idea how my original blog post reached John. I'm assuming that his friend-request isn't  a coincident.

But dead or alive. The summer of '67 will always be remembered as one of my favoirtes.

  1. And that is why (in the olden days) journalists always did a double verification on a story before writing it. Of course, nowadays, very little, if any, verification is ever conducted.
