I wake up from a bad
dream. In it, I go to take the exam and
the questions have nothing to do with real estate. Instead, it is about different species of
fish, and I don’t know any of the answers.
I am afraid I have over
studied and will confuse everything.
The Real Estate Education Center's exam is today;
later this week I take the state exam. I
need to pass both to get my salesperson's license. Passing is 65% or better for the school exam
and 70% or better for the state.
I have scheduled today’s
test for noon but arrive an hour early.
No problem. The receptionist
hands me the test, directs me to a room, and wishes me luck.
Two other people are already
there taking the test. There are no
proctors. If there are cameras, I am sure no one is watching them. Still, there are no cheaters.
The test is 75 questions, 90
minutes long. I am done in 30. It is so easy. Nothing tricky. None of the complicated math problems that
are given as samples in the book — only basic calculations. Nothing too obscure or poorly worded.
I leave and the two people
who were in the room when I entered are still there when I leave.
I hand the exam to the
receptionist. She puts it through some
machine and about 15 seconds later I get my results: 92%.
I take the rest of the day
off from studying.
