I’m
on my computer. It’s about 9:15, and the
lights flicker. A few minutes later
everything goes to black.
I
still have to pack. I have almost a
pound of lobster meat in the fridge.
It’s hot and muggy if the AC’s not on. There’s no internet. No TV. No lights from any of the houses on
the street.
I
call NStar. There’s been some kind of
outage due to an equipment malfunction.
“We are working on it,” the robo-voice tells me.
But
my mom is prepared. She comes
out of her bedroom with two big powerful flashlights. A propane operated hurricane lantern. And best of all, two LED headlamps. They are so cute, and ridiculously helpful — if I could come up with a good reason to buy one I would.
I
look like I just came from the mines, but I’m able to pack without a
problem.
Sleeping in the 80 plus heat
though? I doubt that’ll be as easy.
