The other day at Bloomingdales the makeup artist
for Illamasqua uses a brush to put on my foundation. She says the foundation blends much better
this way. I know this, but I am
generally too lazy to do this. But then
she uses a regular brush to apply cream blush.
This is new too me. The same
principle holds, she explains; it’s easier to blend.
I
am meeting Jill in Tribeca this morning to see a ten am screening. I get up early and decide to try this
blending-with-a-brush technique. First of all, it takes only a small bit more effort than doing it with my fingers. And, it really does look better. More polished. Though I wonder if it's too much makeup for this early in the day. I leave my house around eight, looking like I am
on my way to an evening event.
Jill
and I see August: Osage County (starring Meryl Streep in another stunning
performance). After the movie (which we
both like), I ask Jill if she thinks I'm wearing too much makeup. She says, “I can't tell you're wearing
any.”
Hmmm. Does this mean I applied it so naturally that
it looks perfect? Or, that I don’t look
any different with makeup on then off? I
don’t ask.
I've used cream blush since reading one of the many "How to Age Better" articles I've become addicted to. Never used a brush. I'll try it today.
