up to Boston

I wake up early to heavily falling rain.  Not the best weather for traveling.  But better than the snow that was predicted.

I am taking an 8 a.m. Bolt Bus up to Boston.  Fearful of not getting a cab, I leave my house at 7. Bad weather and holiday traffic usually combine to make getting a cab difficult.  But for some inexplicable reason, that doesn't happen this morning, and I'm at the bus stop by 7:15.

I pass the time at a local deli with other Bolt Bus riders.  The trip up is uneventful and we arrive only an hour late.  Not bad for a long ride through a cold and sleety rainstorm.

I even say nothing when the bus driver chats on her phone for most of the five hours through treacherous weather.  I am not in a mood to start a fight.  It is after all Thanksgiving.

M picks me up and we spend the rest of the day running errands.  The weather is miserable.

Dinner is at a local Italian restaurant.  As we are eating, Sam arrives via train from New York and Alexander arrives via bus from Ithaca, fairly on schedule which is quite shocking considering the weather.

We bring food home for the boys (Harrison had arrived earlier), but leave them to watch an addicting series on Showtime called The Affair.

It's a pretty ordinary day, made special by having good friends and my son to hang with.
