I see an ad for a new nail polish with an irresistible
promise:
To reveal the
natural beauty of your nails, Dior has invented Nail Glow. A treatment nail
varnish that makes pink pinker, and brightens nail tips for an instant French
manicure look.
This sounds
too good to be true. I love French
manicures but they are pricey, take forever to do, and a long time to
dry. I go to buy this new product
sensation and they are sold out everywhere.
A sign, no doubt, of its fabulousness.
I leave my name at the Dior counter at Bloomingdales and ask them to
call me when it comes in.
Yesterday I
get that call. Christina leaves me a
message, and I can hear the excitement in her voice. “Lyn, hi, it’s Christine from
Bloomingdales. You are so lucky. I got in just one of the new Nail Glow’s. Please call me back, as I am sure it will sell
quickly.” I call her back immediately; pay for the product over the phone; then go pick it up.
This morning I get my manicure. Well, the pinks of my nails
are pinker, and it does leave a pretty shine, but I see no real difference in
the whites. It is definitely not a
replacement for a French manicure, more like a cheap knockoff.
