In setting up this blog, I
buy a domain name that can be used to access this site; it’s called www.nycdiarist.com. Easy to remember. I also want to track traffic through Google
Analytics to know if anyone is actually reading this blog, and if so, what
countries/cities they are from (privacy is protected as it doesn’t go deeper
than name of city).
Setting up these two small
things takes me hours and hours, and involves multiple Please Help emails, many google searches, participation in support
forums, an education on DNS, and an attempt to find and understand the HTML
coding on my blog. It is frustrating
beyond description. Just when I think I
understand what I ‘m doing, I’m prompted with something like,
Enter
your domain name and list the IP addresses shown below in the A section.
Huh? Where’s my IP Address? Where do I find the A section?
I give up, and write to
someone at WordPress to help me. That’s
where I find the angel named Joey.
Joey sends me detailed
instructions. I try them and accomplish
only half of what I am supposed to do. I
write again. He writes back with more
details. Again, I am lost. In his third email, Joey writes:
Hi Lyn,
I'm sorry to hear
that you're having trouble with the last few steps. I definitely understand
that dealing with domains can be frustrating. I've gone ahead and completed the
last few steps on your behalf.
Now I’m in love with
Joey. It’s only then that I see,
underneath his signature, his title: Happiness Gardener.
I only wish Joey’s scope of
responsibility could go beyond the technical.
