I have been avoiding my
scale, but today decide it’s time.
129. I haven’t seen such a high
number since March 2010. Last year at
this time I weighed 122. I am not buying
new clothes. So beginning today I will start eating more restrictively.
A few minutes after making
this pledge, my phone rings. It’s my
sister, Valerie. She’s in the city and
suggests getting together. We first
consider museums. I always consider
museums when someone asks, “Do you want to get together and do something today?” I must think by considering them I am fulfilling
my cultural obligation to visit them. In the
end we meet for lunch at Todd English’s Food Court at the
Plaza.
The choices there are many. Valerie gets sushi (from Sushi of Gari no less) and I get a less
healthy meal of three half sandwiches from Luke’s: one lobster, one crab, and
one shrimp, plus a small bag of chips.
Going to a museum would have
been fewer calories, but I doubt it would have been more fun.
