I am at Barney’s buying a mositurizer to replace the one I just finished. I leave
and start walking home. I call Alexander.
He doesn’t pick up.
Ten minutes
later Alexander calls me back. We talk
for a minute or two, and I am about to hang up.
By now I’ve walked about a half mile toward home. That’s when he says, “Oh, some lady called
and left a message that you left your glasses at the Chanel counter.”
Why doesn’t he think to call me
right after she calls?
Doesn’t he realize that I will of
course have to go back to retrieve my glasses?
Does he maybe think, “My mom doesn’t
really need her glasses to see,” or, “She’ll just not see for tonight and will
go back tomorrow?”
Or, does he just not think at all? (I’d vote for this one).
I walk
back, get my glasses, and take a cab home.
Oy, sounds too familiar. And then my kids would say "It's no big deal Mom. I'll go back and get it for you." knowing full well I will say no because 1) I would feel guilty disrupting their full schedules of leisure activities, and 2) I know they'd never really get the glasses and why just add to how pissed off I already am with them.
ReplyDeleteSo glad I'm not the only one!
