all dressed up and nowhere to go

Meredith and I have theater tickets for tonight.  It’s been snowing since early morning and it’s predicted to continue through the night.  Meredith gives me her ticket to give away.  The play, Outside Mullingar, is written by John Patrick Shanley and stars Debra Messing and Brian Byrne.  I sent a note out to a few friends and within ten minutes three respond yes, they'd love to go.  Corinne is first, so we make a plan to meet at the theater at 6:45.
It’s cold.  Only 12 degrees.  I dress, put on makeup, eat dinner at the ridiculous hour of five, and am freezing at the bus stop by six.  I wait and wait and no bus comes.  More bundled up people arrive. Still no bus.  Two men take the initiative of checking on the situation.  They leave the bus stop for a few minutes and return with this report:  “There are no buses. We should all go home.”  They are convincing.  I go home and call Corinne who fortunately has not left her house yet.

I find this explanatory picture online.  Tomorrow I'll reschedule.
