On June 1 my dad had hip
surgery. Today he came home.
It’s been a long, exhaustive
convalescence, especially for my mom.
For two months, she has sat with my dad everyday for hours. She has pushed along his therapy. She has made sure his meals are what he
wants. She has sat with him in the
little outdoor garden. She has politely
managed the kind nurses and aides at the rehab center.
My dad’s progress has
certainly not been a linear one. But now he is home, and my mom is hoping for consistent improvement. We all hope she is right.
I am so happy that he is home. Both of your parents are troopers. I heard that after a cetain age every day of bed rest in the hospital is equivalent to something like a week for a younger person. That is one of the reasons the rehab takes so long. That therapy is challenging!
