I have a few criteria for
buying shoes to go with my gown. They
must be:
- Wearable with more than a gown.
In other words, no satin.
- Low heeled.
- Black.
- Not summery.
- Affordable.
- Comfortable (or at least not too uncomfortable).
I start at Bergdorf’s big
shoe sale. I try on a pair of Chanel
dress shoes. The heel is right, but they
are not terribly comfortable, and the rounded toe is not all that
attractive. I don’t buy them.
Next stop is the Manolo
Blahnik boutique for their final markdowns.
I’m told the lines were out the door yesterday. Today it’s crowded, but no lines. Mostly the size 38 1/2’s are gone. But I find the perfect shoe. It meets all my criteria. And best of all, they have it in my
size. It fits. It’s marked down 63%.
The picture makes the shoes
sparkle in different colors, but that’s only the way it reflects the
light. The shoes are all black.
I think Dorothy wore a version of these
shoes in red. Though my wishes may be
different, I'm hoping they will give me the same luck they gave her.
