Alexander
and I are spending the day together.
Last night, before going to bed around 1:30, he says, “Let’s leave by
ten. I want to be back by the
afternoon.”
Except
I can’t wake him at 9. Or 9:30. Finally around 10 he gets up. I ask for his help
in changing my linens. He reluctantly and
quite miserably agrees.
“How do
you do this when I’m not here?"
“You
need to exercise so you can lift the mattress by yourself.”
“Why
does the flat sheet need to be so perfect?
No one is going to see it.”
Finally
he concludes, “You know, you probably would have done better with a daughter."
