reconnected

For the past two and a half days I've been unhinged.

No emails in or out on my main account.

Every five hours or so I'd call Apple for an update.  Every call would begin with, "Our engineers are working on it." And every call would end with my screaming, "I know the engineers are supposed to be working on it.  But if they are, WHY HASN'T THERE BEEN ANY PROGRESS?"

Finally tonight, at nine pm, 59 hours after the problem began, I get a call from Jon at Apple.  "Well, we finally have an update.  The problem is fixed."

Yes, I lost all the emails that were sent to me between Monday morning and tonight.  And yes, it scares me a little to know how dependent I've become on something as veiled as the Apple server.  But still.  

I hear the words it's been fixed, and boom, just like that, I am anchored again.
