Cooking doesn’t make sense for a single person. At least it doesn’t for a single person
living in NYC. For not a lot of money, I
can have a great meal every night.
Today I go to Agata and buy a roasted herb chicken breast,
cooked in a tomato sauce with onions ($3.78) plus roasted potatoes
($2.42). I doubt I could make a meal
this good for $6.20.
After dinner, I meet my friend Ellen. We see the new play Ann (about Ann Richards) at Lincoln Center for $4.50, less than the
new round-trip bus fare of $5.00. It
would be shocking if the star and writer, Holland Taylor, were not nominated
for a Tony. The play could be cut by about 20 minutes, but is otherwise excellent.
You can do a lot here on little. It would just be a little nicer to not have to.
