Day six of the heat
wave. Today will be 98° but according to
the weather, “It’ll feel like 110.” This
is the biggest heat wave in twelve years.
It is a good day to stay inside.
Vance and his associate come
to wash my windows. Yesterday Vance came
alone and together we decide a thorough window cleaning is needed — windows,
panes, the sill area, and my shutters/blinds.
$200 cash is the agreed upon price.
Vance and his buddy get to
work. After they are done in my bedroom
I come to inspect. The inner Citi Quiet window is not clean. Vance
argues that he cannot do it because…blah blah blah. I know he can do it and point out how. He then says it’ll cost me more. I tell him that we agreed yesterday on price,
and this window was included.
Just then my phone
rings. I choose not to get answer, as
Vance and I are in mid-discussion. It’s
a good friend. Her message begins:
Hey
it’s me. I just got back from a diner
where I sat in some jelly because the person bussing the table was too lazy to
do his fuc**ing job right.
Without my saying a word, Vance apologizes
and cleans the inner window beautifully.
No extra charge.
