unexpected response

I like Brussels sprouts.

I overhear M on the phone telling her brother an easy recipe.

  • Wash, cut stems, and take off outer leaves
  • Heat up oil in a frying pan
  • Add a few slivers of fresh garlic (keep on low heat)
  • When you can smell the infused garlic, add the Brussels sprouts
  • Season with Mrs. Dash (Garlic and Herbs)
  • Mix together
  • Heat about 20 minutes on low, until lightly browned
  • Optional:  add a heavy balsamic and serve

Today I go to my local D’Agostino to buy Mrs. Dash, Garlic and Herbs, “The one with the turquoise top.”

I ask an employee where Mrs. Dash is.  He walks me over to the section and together we look for the right Mrs. Dash.  Not there.  Only the original.  The one with a yellow top.

I buy a couple of other items and get in line to check out.  At the register, the cashier asks the empty, requisite question, “Did you find everything you were looking for?”  I am sure I disappoint her with my response.  “Actually no. I wanted the Garlic and Herb Mrs. Dash and you don’t have it.  I looked everywhere.”  Then I ask, “Just curious.  What do you do with this information?”  Without responding, she bolts from behind the register.  I’m thinking, nice, but a waste of time.  A few minutes later I see her jogging back. In her hand I see a turquoised-topped jar.

Esnita comes through.  I am truly impressed.

Tonight I make the Brussels sprouts.  They are delicious.  The Mrs. Dash makes all the difference.
