Alexander
is coming home tonight. His arrival was
supposed to happen on Saturday, but I wasn’t surprised when he changed it;
there is always too much to do at the last minute.
It’s
been years since I’ve gotten anything new for Alexander’s room. I didn’t even think of getting him a new
mattress until M said his bed was unsleepable.
Those weren’t her exact words.
She is far more diplomatic. I think
she said something like, “You know, I think next time I come I’ll stay in a hotel. “ It
didn’t take much probing to discern the reason.
So
in February, M shows up with an incredible gift. Her son’s barely-used twin size TempurPedic
mattress. I complete the make-over and get Alexander a new quilt and
pillow. I’m not sure how long he’ll be
living here, but while he is, I want his room to be inviting.
