big family news

Alexander and I see a screening of Savages; a fun summer movie directed by Oliver Stone.  A few minutes after arriving home the phone rings.  It’s my sister Valerie.  She has big news.

Her son --- my nephew, Alexander’s cousin --- just got engaged to Amanda, his girlfriend of a couple of years. Everyone is excited and thrilled.

Jason is pretty near perfect.  He’s smart.  Good-looking.  Athletic.  An accomplished pianist. Speaks fluent Spanish.  Is successful (having just been promoted at his Wall Street job).  And, is one of the kindest, nicest people I know.  (All of this could also be said of his two brothers, except they are not musical and don’t speak Spanish).  No one can meet Jason and not like him.  

Amanda shares many of Jason’s traits.  When I met her about a year ago, I liked her immediately, as did everyone else.   We are all so happy.
