Next I attend to me. I have only two major cosmetic chores: waxing and nails.
I get a manicure/pedicure. For my toes, I choose a french pedicure to
avoid risking toenails that could clash with my red, open-toed shoes.
Then there’s the
waxing.
Since I seem to have little
hair under my arms, I splurge $8 and get an underarm wax. My last one, 30 years ago, so traumatized me,
I haven’t gotten one since. Surprisingly, this one is far less painful, and I love the results.
As I'm about to get the dreaded bikini wax, I see a sign on the wall for sugaring. I have no idea what that is, but it only costs $5 more. I ask Shawna, my waxist, what sugaring is. She tells me it's an all-natural method (I'm guessing that's a benefit) and “is 50% less painful than traditional waxing.” I’m not sure what research exists to support
this claim but I'm not about to ask for documentation. I spend the extra $5. Shawna has under-promised. There is zero pain. I am thrilled.
What a sweet discovery!
