I love driving on the Cape, something I never get to do at
home. We go to my favorite Cape
store: Maxwells. It’s a small store that sells high-end men’s
and women’s clothes, with labels that I see no where else. Two of my favorites are Transit Par Such and Paraboot,
a maker of men’s shoes. I know the store
owners, as I have been going to Maxwell’s for years. Whenever I go in, I’m greeted as if I’m part
family.
What is particularly nice today is that I have a big credit from
a return made earlier this year, and they are having a summer sale.
I buy two pair of Transit fall pants at 60% off, a gorgeous
white blouse for 40% off, and a white ¾ length white T at 20% off (by 88
Orange, another designer I see only here). I buy Alexander a shirt he
loves (green gingham) and a pair of brown Paraboot loafers, both at 20% off, as
well as some Vineyard Vines boxers.
Shopping with Alexander is like shopping with a young
child. How much longer? Can we go
now? Are we almost done? Do I have to try that on? These are questions he never tires of
asking. He likes the result of our
shopping spree, but not the effort.
