I leave Zelia’s dinner. It’s pouring outside and it’s late. I am two
blocks away from the Apple Store. I
figure this should be a good time to go.
No one will be there.
Five minutes later I am in the store. Along with half of Manhattan, half of Japan, and half of Europe.
I go to the Genius Bar hoping that everyone in the store is there for the new iPhone. "Hi, is anyone available to help me with a problem I'm having with my phone?" I ask. The blue-shirted Apple employee checks her iPad and says, "I'm sorry, our next appointment isn't until 5am.” I am
not waiting five hours. I make an
appointment for the next day.
Today I go back. People, with appointments, are in line to get
in. I finally am seen. My assigned genius (who strikes me more as a genius wannabe) does a diagnostic test and
tells me my battery is fine. “Must be a
problem with the software,” he says.
Next he does a hard re-set. It
takes a minute. “Should be fine now,” he
concludes. I am doubtful.
It takes six hours
for my battery to deplete itself. Better than it was pre-genius visit but not by much.
I now have two options.
Some problems are bigger than others. Some solutions are easier than others. This is a small problem with an easy solution. I'm doing nothing.
The end.
- Restore my IPhone to factory-settings by reloading/resetting everything, and then hope that that works; or
- Live with a marginalized phone until I can upgrade in late December.
Some problems are bigger than others. Some solutions are easier than others. This is a small problem with an easy solution. I'm doing nothing.
The end.
