We
sit on the edges of The Great Lawn. In
the distance we see a group of men, parading around in small bathing
suits. It’s an unusual sight. We try to guess what they are doing. Are they on a swim team and doing
strengthening exercises on land? Doubt
it. Are they part of the Polar Bear
Club? Unlikely; they are young and
in-shape. Are they looking to tan in
Central Park on these last days of summer?
Hard to imagine a group of young guys planning an activity like
that. Maybe they are just
exhibitionists.
I
am brave with my camera so I decide to ask them. They are a friendly lot. Turns out they are students at Fordham and
they’re trying to raise money for their water polo team by singing songs if
approached. I don't think they've been approached much.
When
I ask if I can photograph them they insist on my participation in the shot.
I
hope they meet their money goals. They
seem awfully nice.
