I've been invited to a party.
I don’t know the couple
hosting the party well, though I wish I knew them better. We have many mutual friends, and I am
thrilled they have included me in their guest list.
Their apartment is spacious,
beautifully designed and decorated, with big open rooms flowing into each
other. Add to that great food, easygoing people, and a big screen TV. It’s the perfect venue for a Super Bowl
Party.
Even after watching two years of Horace Mann football, my knowledge of the game is limited. I am seriously in awe of people who understand this game. Through Alexander, I have picked up enough to not sound
totally ignorant. I know, for example, that
Wes Welker used to play for the NE Patriots, that Peyton Manning is 37, and that
Richard Sherman grew up poor and went to Stanford. I also know that a team has four tries to
make ten yards, that a touchdown is worth six points, that a football field is
120 yards including the end zones, and that another one or two points can be
added after a touchdown. That’s about
it.
But even with my limited
knowledge, I can recognize a strong defense. The Broncos didn't have a chance tonight.
