better than I thought

If it weren’t considered rude, I’d probably have cancelled.  But I signed up last week to go to a BAFTA screening of PAIN AND GAIN.  I like Mark Wahlberg (and not just because he's from Boston).  None of my friends want to come with me.  In fact, one emails:

you're joking right?
i could barely sit through the trailer for this one.

I arrive early, though there is no need to.  The theater is less than a quarter full.  A movie about dim-witted gym rats kidnapping and killing people does not attract a big BAFTA crowd.

But surprisingly, this is a highly entertaining movie.  The humorous parts overwhelm the gruesome ones, and the cast is likeable, though their crimes are not.  And the story is true, making it all the more unbelievable.
