is Costco really worth it?

I walk the two miles to Costco, but have to spend $13 to take a car service home.  I wonder, is it really worth it?

So I conduct a little research on my major purchases.  I spend $64.86 for:

Two, 40-ounce bottles of the Neutrogena Shower and Bath Gel
30 rolls (231 sheets/roll) of Charmin Ultra
12 rolls (92 sheets/roll) of Bounty Paper Towels

When I get home, I go to D’Agostino and do some comparative pricing on the Charmin Ultra (18 rolls of 176 sheets per roll) and Bounty (15 rolls of 48 sheets per roll). I can’t find the Neutrogena so I price it on Amazon.

I convert the number of sheets in both the Bounty and the Charmin so my comparisons reflect the exact same sizes.  The results are astounding.  I save $62.50 on just these items..

*    Neutrogena: $21.89 vs. $13.49 at Costco  (including $4 coupon)
*    Charmin: $42.20 (equivalent size) vs. $17.99 at Costco (including $2 coupon)
*    Bounty: $41.38 (equivalent size) vs.$19.89  (including $2 coupon)

Sure, I’ve included coupons that maybe a statistician would not have.  And no, I didn’t include the $30 cost of membership (I split it with a friend). But the net outcome would be the same.

So is Costco worth it?  The answer is a resounding YES!  As long as you use what you buy.
